I can scarcely believe that as Im writing this outside is white!! When only yesterday we lost a weekend of eventing due to heavy rain!!! You just couldnt make it up.
Anyway the eventing season is now under way and we started at Aston-Le-Walls with Pearl, who got the season of to a flying start. She ran in the BE80 and produced a smart test with a few baby mistakes to score 35 which put her in 10th after dressage in a section of 34! she then had 2 unfortunate poles in the showjumping but jumped an awesome clear inside the time cross country to finish 14th at her first ever event, so myself and her owners Karen & Mike couldnt have been more pleased with her!!
The following weekend we had Beemer at Tweseldown for the BE90. There was much controversy surrounding Tweseldown as to whether it should have been cancelled or not but what alot of people didnt realise was how hard the orgainsers worked to keep it running! they were out untill 8pm every night moving . Having spoken to Mike Benfield the showjumping course builder we decided to brave it.
The dressage warm up was the worst part, which looked something like a ploughed field, I managed to find a less cut up corner though to do a quick warm up before his test. The arenas themselves were not to bad and had been moved out of the worst mud, Beemer was rather distracted in his test by everything that was going on around him and the scary dressage boards but the moments of concentration we did achieve were really nice and recieved 7s which is very promising. The Showjumping warm up was better and the arena was near on perfect going, He produced a lovely clear but picked up 3 time faults as I played it safe and took everything very slowly as it was his first time jumping on grass.
He to gave me a fantastic ride cross country sailing round effortlessly and made short work of his first corner and sunken road. Unfortunatly the camera decided to die on us so there are limited photos of him.
We were due to be at Swalcliffe Park yesterday with Hovis & Midget for their first outing but unfortunatly the weather had other ideas, which is such a shame as the 2 boys were feeling so ready but its far more disheartening for the organisers who but in such much time & effort for nothing.
So now Midget will have his first run at Goring Heath BE100 hopefully. While Hovis, Beemer & Pearl will go to Aston-Le-Walls Unaffiliated the first week in April. Well thats the plan anyway!
Amber is coming back into work nicely and hopefully we can start kicking on with her soon. Spirit is also coming along nicely after his winter break and is really starting to go nicely on the flat and jumping so he should start going to some little things shortly.
Gypsy (Medbourne Mayflower) has now gone to her new home in Somerset where she will enjoy pony club & ode with her new owner Immy so hopefully they will have alot of fun together.
With her leaving that opened up a new space for the next horse from Shane which comes in the shape of Gordan, who is a BFG standing at 17.2hh but so far he seems to be a gentle giant. So he will hopefully be out eventing shortly before being put on the market!
So its all systems go here at Follyfoot
