Well since my last post it has been a very long winter! With all the wet weather it was rather difficult to do any schooling or jumping without a school so they had a very quiet few months.
However our first outing was to Onley Grounds to do some Showjumping with Hovis and Sam and they set us rolling beautifully! Hovis jumped a double clear in the 80cm to win and Sam was just a little green to have a couple down. Then in the 90cm Hovis was a little rusty to have a couple down but Sam jumped a beautiful double clear to come third :-)
We returned to Onley the following Wednesday for dressage with Midget and Beemer. Beemer was incredibly excited to be out so did very well to concentrate as much as he did, he finished 7th in his first novice test and 6th in his second novice test despite diving across the arena when I asked for medium canter haha.
However Midget was a dude :-) I think he was quite harshly marked on what was a nice consistent test in his novice test to come 5th and did a lovely consistent test in his first ever elementary and really tried his heart out for 3rd :-)
Our first proper event of the year was Offchurch Bury Unaffiliated run by LandS Eventing. It was a lovely event and I would highly recommend it to anyone!!
We took Sam and Hovis. Hovis was up first in the 90, he is feeling so much stronger this and proved it with a lovely test to score 27.5 and an easy double clear for 2nd.
Sam was in the 80 and was a star at his first ever event. He produced a slightly green test to score 38 but followed it up with a foot perfect double clear for 6th :-)
We then went to Aston-Le-Walls Unaffiliated with Midget and Beemer for the pre-novice.
Midget produce his usual consistent brilliance for 27 and a totally shocking double clear, making it his 2nd ever double clear!!! To come 4th! Beemer was very exciting at the thought of being at a party so produced a very tense excitable test for 42 and a good double clear but I didn't run him for the time after his uncompetitive dressage!
Friday we head to the stunning Hambledon International, my favourite event! Midget and Beemer were both in the 100. Both produced nice tests (even if Midget was slightly distracted by the XC), Midget scored 32 and Beemer a much improved 34.5. Both had one fence down Showjumping round a track that was producing few clears but were foot perfect round the cross country giving me two great rides inside the time. Beemer finished 13th and Midget 15th in very competitive sections :-)
So we have got off to a good start. Hovis and Sam go to Swallcliffe Park Unaffilliated Intro next. Then Beemer and Sam go to Solihull Unaffiliated, Beemer for the PreNovice and Sam for the Intro. Midget and Hovis then go to Milton Keynes for the spring three day event.
Jack has had a holiday and is just coming back into work. Evie is proving to be an incredibly bold jumper, jumping all our very scary fences first time. Sadly Timmy had to return to Shane after a short stay with us :-(
Romeo and Simon will make there showing debuts this summer so it is all systems go at Astree :-)
