Well its been a busy few weeks here at Ashtree, we have been working hard to try and get the place up together and looking smart aswell as being out nearly every weekend eventing!
Firstly we went to Aston-Le-Walls Unaffiliated with the Angels Montreal Skyline who was doing his first PreNovice. Things didnt quite go to plan that day unfortunatly, Monty did a nice test to score 39.5. Showjumping didnt go quite so well haha, Monty was doing a brilliant round when he decided to apply the handbrake at the last fence and firmly eject me!! With just a touch of embarrassment I rejoined Monty and completed. Cross Country he was a machine! With the exception of one green moment at the water he ate the course up and gave me a fab ride!
We then went to Ascott-Under-Wychwood with Hovis & Pearl for the BE90. Hovis was an absolute star!! He did a personal best dressage scoring 27!! then jumped an imaculate clear showjumping and was giving me an awesome ride cross country other than a green moment at the water which is completely understandable. He seems to be really getting the hang of eventing now and is getting better and better every time :-)
Pearl did a smart test to score 36.5, which she followed up with 2 down showjumping but made nothing of the move up in level and just had 2 green stops cross country but otherwise stormed round proving she is more than capable with a few more miles!
This weekend we went to Draycott House with Beemer & Midget. Beemer was up first in the BE100, he did a personal best dressage scoring 39! he was then rather naughty showjumping and had 2 down and a very naughty stop at the influential combination but fully redeemed himself cross country and gave me a fantastic ride making it feel incredably easy, i didnt run him for the time however as he wasnt going to be in with a shout of a rosette so I didnt see the need.
Midget was a star in his 2nd Novice! He doesnt look like he had a good run on paper but he was actually awesome. He did a 37.5 dressage with places we can still work on to improve that. Showjumping he jumped fantastically round the biggest track he has done and just had both parts of the influential combination down. Then cross country he was technically Eliminated but he actually gave me a great ride! He slipped coming round the corner into the big log into the quarry and skidded along it which scared him and he picked up 2 refusals, then had another green refusal at the skinny into the water but I was so pleased with him as he was great round the rest of the course and there were some real questions for him and I feel the 2 stops at the log were just bad luck and he needs more miles to gain more confidence then he will be flying :-)
Amber has now passed a 5 stage vetting and will be leaving to be a much loved first horse for a very lucky young girl called Becky on Saturday, so that will be a mixed day for us as we will be sad to see her leave but know she is going to be loved to death!!
Gordan has returned to his owner but remains on the market due to time wasters!!
We also have a new arrival from Shane in the form of Mojo, who is a 5yearold grey ISH gelding. He will gain some experience with us before being put on the market.
We next go to Milton Keynes with Pearl for her second BE90. Beemer & Monty go to Purston Manor for the BE100 & Midget for the Novice. So the busy times continue haha.
