Well it has been a crazy few weeks but we have made it haha. On the 22nd of April we finally got the keys to our new place, Ashtree Farm!! Which was very exciting but also a complete logisitcal nightmare, having 9 horses, 3 dogs, a pond full of fish, a tank full of tropical fish, a whole yard, house & vechicals to move all in one day and with only 9 days notice!!!! But with much help from friends and family we did it and we are now firmly living in the centre of the country.
We will now be going under ASHTREE SPORT HORSES instead of FOLLYFOOT EQUESTRIAN and on the 31st May our Website address will change to www.ashtreesporthorses.weebly.com.
All the horses seem to have settled in well and have had their first runs from their new home.
Hovis & Beemer went to Moreton Morrell on the 1st of May where I also had an extra ride on the Angel's Montreal Skyline (Monty). Hovis and Monty were in the BE90.
Hovis did a good test to score 36, he followed it up with a clear showjumping but unfortunatly his greenness showed through once again in the cross country where he had a hesitation at the drop and a glance off at a combination but generally felt better in every phase so hopefully next time we will be better again.
Monty was a Star!! He did a lovely test for 32.5 and jumped an immaculate double clear to finish 2nd in his section, not bad for his first outing of the season!!
Beemer went to do his first BE100, he once again did a tense test (we will get there eventually) to score 47.5. He was rather excitable in the showjumping and had the first 2 fences down then settled and jumped really well and cross country he was a machine!!!! the course was big and technical for a 100 with some big questions for a green horse but he sailed round but knowing we werent in with a shout I didnt run him for the time and just let him take it all in. So a good day in all.
We then went to Broadway on the 5th with Pearl & Midget.
Pearl was in the BE80 and pulled out all the stops! She did a smart test to score 26!! and followed it up with a foot perfect double clear to finish 2nd & only 2.2 behind the winner!!
Midget went to do his first novice and he made the step up feel easy! He did a smart accurate test to score 34.5, he then unfortunatly had 3 down showjumping, he just struggled to balance into the fences running down hill & still make the height to clear them but he generally jumped out of his skin & felt awesome. Cross Country he was a legend & jumped a fab clear but again I didnt run him for the time as I wanted him to process what was being asked of him. Had he stayed on his dressage he would have been 4th which is really encouraging as it shows when he has abit more experience he is more than capable of being competitive.
Finally we went to Aston-Le-Walls Unaffiliated on the 12th with Amber for her first outing of the season & she ran in the prenovice . She did a beautiful test to score 28.5 and lie joint 2nd out of 41! then had one unlucky fence down showjumping to stay 2nd but unfortunately it was not meant to be as she slipped coming into a fence cross country and had an uncharacteristic stop but otherwise stormed round a challenging track with lots of tricky combinations.
So on the whole we are very happy with all the ponys at the moment. Gordan is now on the market and sadly Amber will be shortly :( We will be very sad to see her go but with more horses coming in all the time I havent got the time to give her that she deserves. So if anyone is looking for a super fun rosette machine please let me!
We are back at Aston next where I will once again ride Monty for the Angel's but this time in the prenovice & Amber may possibly go aswell.
We will then head to the Craven team Showjumping with a couple of them before Hovis & Pearl go to Ascott-Under-Wychwood for the BE90. Then Midget & Beemer to Draycott House for the novice & BE100 respectively.
So hopefully exciting times ahead!
