Well its been a mad few weeks here at Ashtree. We have had our first few liveries move in, who are all very friendly & helpful , and all the horses have had there next runs.
Firstly Pearl went to Milton Keynes for her second BE90. She did a stunning dressage test to score 28 putting her in 6th after dr. She then took a dislike to some filler boards in the showjumping and picked up 2 stops but otherwise flew round & had 2 green stops cross country.
After having many discussion with her owner we have decided to put her on the market and see if there is any interest in her. She will be kept fit and compete up untill she is sold but we just feel she isnt reaching her full potential being on a big busy yard, she would be more suited to being an only child haha.
We then headed to Purston Manor Horse Trials, firstly on the Saturday with Beemer & Monty for the BE100. Beemer did a much improved test to score 30.5 placing him 15th after dressage so we were thrilled, our new dressage trainer in Rebecca Hughes seems to be working wonders with him! He then had 3 down showjumping, just his long gangly legs getting in the way haha and stormed round the cross country inside the time making it once again feel effortless!
Monty did a superb dressage to score 28.5 putting him 3rd after dressage, he also had 3 down showjumping but due to me having his canter to forward to avoid any unwanted handbrake stops haha and had 2 green stops at the influential trakehner but otherwise stormed round.
We then returned on the Sunday with Midget for the Novice. It really wasnt our finest hour that day unfortunatly. He was rather distracted in the dressage to score 36, followed it up with 6 down showjumping!!! as he just wasnt listening and was rushing. However he was fully redeeming himself cross country and giving me a fantastic ride untill 3 from home he left a leg at the corner and catapulted me staight out the saddle, thankfully he managed to find his landing gear so didnt fall with me but the are some pretty damn good action shots haha.
We then went to Upton House with Hovis for the BE90ROR. He did a smart test to score 35.5, had one unlucky fence down show jumping but jumped the most fantastic clear cross country inside the time to finish 6th! proving he is getting better & better with every run :-)
We took Midget & Beemer for some well needed showjumping practise at Onley Grounds on Sunday, it has a beatuiful big arena with a nice set of jumps but there was no one there!! Beemer had 1 down in the 1m finishing 2nd out of 2 haha and had 2 down in the 1.05m as just met a combination wrong and finished 2nd out of 3 haha.
Midget also jumped in the 1m05 but had 3 down as completly met the combination wrong haha so finished 3rd to Beemer haha then was the only entry in the 1m10 so they let me school round it and please myself which was fantastic for him and he jumped really well :-) We did have a little joke on the way home though that we should swap to showjumping as I had won 1 less rosette that day than I had done so far this season eventing haha ;-)
We have had Karen's (Pearls owner) 2 horses here for holiday cover for the last 10 days aswell as the Angels Monty & Pickle for the last 3 weeks, so it has been a rather crazy time, So as you can imagine we were slightly relieved when they all set off to their repective homes on Monday only to get a call 20minutes later from Trish saying her lorry had broken down so could I rescue her 2 melting ponies from her boiling tin can haha Monty and Pickle obviously liked there stay at Ashtree far too much so wanted an extra week here haha.
There has been much change on the horse front here, we have 3 new arrivals. Firstly Evie's Girl (Evie), who is a 15.2hh 4year old coloured Irish Sport Horse who is incredably sweet and I have brought to break in, produce and sell on. Secondly is Black Jack ( Jack) a 15hh 5year old Part bred who I bought to have some fun with and sell on haha and thirdly Medbourne Simply Smashing (Sam) who is a 16.2hh 5 year old bay Irish TB and belongs to Shane Walsh so is also here to gain some experience before being sold on.
Gordon is now sold and has started his new life in Nottingham with a very lucky Lyndsay :-)
We head to Carlton horse trials next with Hovis for the BE90ROR & Beemer & Midget for the BE100. We decided to drop Midget down a level and let him have a fun run after his scare at Purston then all being well him and Beemer will move upto Novice in August at Pres
